It is usual for French estate agents to see the purchase process right through to completion – they don’t get paid until the transaction has been legally completed. So if you have found a good agent that you are confident in, you should be able to rely on them to help you understand what is happening during the purchase process.
It is also common in France for the buyer to pay the agents fees, which are generally significantly higher than those commonly charged by agents in the UK, so be careful that you know exactly what you are due to pay – before you finally commit to your dream home.
